I never thought I’d have healthier hair in my thirties after four babies than I did in my twenties. These tips and products helped me get there!
For basically a decade, nobody complimented my hair. Maybe the color, maybe a cute style, but never “your hair looks so healthy” or “your hair is so long.” Not once. Over this past year, that has completely flipped. I’m getting that compliment from friends and family almost every other day, and honestly, if you’d told me I’d have the best hair of my life in my mid 30s, after four babies, I would not have believed you.
I finally landed on the routine that has helped the most and the products that actually work for my hair, so today I want to walk you through how to get healthier hair using exactly what I’ve learned. I want to say up front, every head of hair is different and I am not a professional. I’m just a regular mom trying to have hair she loves.

The number one thing that changed everything for my hair was cutting way back on heat. I let my hair air dry 99 percent of the time now, and I wear it down and natural a lot. If I do use heat, it’s only once or twice a week, and two is rare. On the days I want some texture, I reach for heatless curls instead, and I wear my hair back in a ponytail a lot, too. Less heat has done more for my hair’s health than almost anything else on this list.

js health hair growth vitamins
Someone recommended these hair growth vitamins from an Australian company that you can get on Amazon, and I’m honestly still a little shocked by how much they’ve helped. After about two to three months, they made more of a difference than any of the really expensive products I’ve tried, and they’re so much more affordable. I take one every single day, and they’ve noticeably improved the texture of my hair. My sides are fuller than they’ve ever been. It’s wild how much of a difference something this simple has made.
I love being blonde. I love it so much. But bleaching my hair is what wrecked it in the first place. So this one is simple: use a lot less bleach. If you’re going to do it, just go in knowing what it costs your hair and be careful about how often.

I started using Olaplex No. 3, which is a literal three-minute treatment. I put it on before washing, let it sit for three minutes, then rinse and wash like normal. So easy and so low maintenance, which is exactly what I’m all about, and it leaves your hair unbelievably soft.

redken all soft heavy cream mask
On the rare weeks I wash my hair twice, I double condition with the Redken All Soft Heavy Cream mask. It does exactly what the name promises.

redken acidic bonding treatment
Every single night before bed, I put a Redken bonding treatment on my ends, and sometimes around my face where those pieces need the most help. This one has genuinely become one of my favorite products I’ve ever used.

BetterDays Hydration is an electrolyte drink I have every single day. I don’t know if it’s a placebo, but I swear my skin and my hair have never looked better, and it genuinely tastes good, so I actually look forward to it. If you want to try it, my code TIERNEY10 will get you a discount.

Be patient, and be careful with bleach and heat especially. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Consistency is what actually moves the needle. I take my vitamin every single day, just one a day, and I really do think staying consistent has made the biggest difference of all.
