My best clothing tip for beating the heat is wearing maxi skirts! See my favorite six maxi skirt options here and why I love them!
If you’re like me and you hate to be hot and sticky in the summer, you need to start wearing maxi skirts!
They are easy, breezy, comfortable, flattering, and so easy to style. One of my most favorite combinations is a maxi skirt with a graphic tee. Because you look put together, but don’t look over the top and leaving everyone wondering why you are so dressed up.
You will look cute and elevated while avoiding a lot of unnecessary sweating AND maxi skirt outfits take very little time to throw together, which I’m all about.
I’ve rounded up my absolute favorites this season — from a splurge-worthy Anthropologie find to some seriously impressive budget options that look anything but cheap.

anthropologie somerset maxi skirt
This one is easy breezy in the best possible way.
It has a stretchy waistband, beautiful tiering, and comes in fantastic color and pattern options. I’m convinced it looks good on everyone, and it pairs perfectly with literally every top. Graphic tee? Yes. A simple fitted tank? Also yes. It’s one of those skirts that just makes getting dressed feel easy.
Pro tip: If you are wearing a maxi skirt with a graphic tee, rather than tucking, use a clear elastic to tie off the side and tuck under. That way you avoid unflattering bunching around your middle.

amazon tiered gauze maxi skirt
This is probably my most worn and most talked about maxi skirt of all time that I will never stop sharing — and that says a lot.
It has a similar tiered style to the Somerset, but at a fraction of the price. The gauzy material keeps it light and breathable, which is everything in the summer. It’s lined all the way to the knee, so you don’t have to worry about layering anything underneath, and it has pockets (always a win).
I own four of them. Four. It comes in so many color options and works just as well thrown on casually as it does dressed up with heels for a wedding or event. It is genuinely one of the most versatile pieces in my closet.

This one is a little more unique, and I love it for that.
I own it in two prints — a subtle stripe and this polka dot version. The polka dots are such a big trend right now, and I know they can sometimes feel a little juvenile as a mom over 30, but I think this subtle print reads more vintage than little girl.
I style it with a graphic tee, a simple jacket, or a fitted tank. It’s a great option if you are a teacher or work outside the home and want something that you can throw on, go, but look put together.

Okay, this one is almost identical to the Anthropologie Somerset — like, I’m not sure you could tell them apart side by side. And the biggest perk, it is a fraction of the price and comes in more color options.
It’s 100% organic cotton, has beautiful tiering, and stretchy waistband. The one thing to note is that the white version is slightly more sheer than the Anthro one, so keep that in mind. But beyond that? It’s a big win. More options, better price, and the quality is genuinely fantastic. It also has pockets!

If you are looking for a maxi skirt that isn’t tiered, this one’s for you.
It has more of a sleek, relaxed silhouette with a leg slit that hits at just the right height. Nothing shows, it moves beautifully, and that effortless linen look is hard to beat in the summer.
It comes in multiple color options, but I couldn’t pass up on the subtle gingham print. I also picked up the matching top, and as a set it would be perfect for travel — one easy outfit you don’t have to think about. But you could also mix and match the skirt with different tops throughout a trip to stretch your outfits further. Goes great with sandals, sneakers, and is incredibly inexpensive for the quality. Did I mention it has pockets?!

I had to include this one because every single time I wear it, I get complimented on it.
The drop waist silhouette is completely different from anything else I own, and the colors are so vibrant and fun for summer. It looks incredibly similar to the Free People version at a much more budget-friendly price. The feel isn’t quite identical, but for the price difference, it’s a really impressive option.
The only downside — no pockets. I know, I know. I want my pockets. But sometimes a skirt is cute enough to make you forgive it, and this is one of those times.
