Tank tops are the subject of summer. And honestly? I’ve tried more than I can count trying to find the ones that actually work with the new LDS garment tops.
Because if you know, you know—finding ones that actually work is not as simple as grabbing any tank top off the rack. It has to fit right, cover right, and most importantly…not require constant adjusting.
I decided I’m doing zero adjustments from the get go and luckily I found some tank tops that are perfect!
After trying so many, these are the ones I keep reaching for. The ones that stay put, feel good, and actually make getting dressed more fun.
THE DENIM TANK
This one? My top pick. No question.
It literally goes with everything. The wash is perfect—not too trendy, not too dated. There is a darker version, but I only kept the lighter wash because it’s more versatile for everyday outfits.
The only thing to note: there can be a tiny peek of a bra or garment near the underarm. But it’s an easy fix.
I layer it with this ribbed tank top from Amazon and it actually makes the outfit cuter if you can believe it. You get that little crew neck peek moment. Kind of like how we layered everything in the fall with a crew neck. It adds dimension to the outfit without trying too hard.
AMAZON RUFFLE EYELET TANK
I would be surprised if you haven’t seen this one. It’s gone viral and yes, it lives up to the hype.
This tank top is feminine, dainty, and has that flattering babydoll fit that just works. It’s one of my favorite summer tank tops for LDS garments because it gives coverage while still feeling light and beautiful.
If you have a longer torso, I would size up since it runs slightly cropped. But if you’re shorter in the torso like me, it fits perfectly as is.
I have it in light blue, but it comes in pink, white and yellow as well.
ANTHRO SCOOP NECK TANK
This one is a 10/10. Superb!!
The structure is amazing, the fit is so nice and the scoop neck is the perfect amount of scoop. Nothing is shifting, nothing hanging out – it fits just the way you want it to.
If you’re looking for a basic tank top that can make multiple outfits and goes with absolutely everything, this scoop neck is the one you will want to pick up. Regardless if you want to wear jeans, a skirt, or some athleisurewear, this tank top will go great with all of them.
SAM EDELMAN ELEVATED TANK
This tank top feels a little more dressed up, which I love.
I originally grabbed it in a coral color (which sold out), but it also comes in navy and cream – and honestly, those colors are even more wearable.
There’s a matching skirt (which is so chic) if you love a good set, but it also pairs perfectly with shorts or denim. It’s one of those pieces that transitions really well between seasons.
If you want something that feels a little more put-together while still being practical for garments, this is it.
CLASSIC AMAZON WHITE TANK (Under $15)
Every closet needs a solid white tank, and this one is such a win.
It fits well, the straps are right, the back isn’t cut too narrow – and most importantly, there is no adjusting necessary with the new LDS garment tops.
For under $15, it’s easily one of the best affordable tank tops that works with the new LDS garments. It’s simple, reliable and one that will be the workhorse in your closet.
Note: This one is also kind of a cropped fit, so size up if you have a longer torso.
FREE PEOPLE “CAP SLEEVE” TANK
Okay, this one technically leans more cap sleeve, but it’s categorized as a tank, and I had to include it.
It is phenomenal! Everyone should get it.
It has that “snatched” fit. Pairing that with the raw hem and those vintage-inspired colors that Free People does so well, makes for the top of my dreams!
I’ve worn it with overalls, denim, everything – and I feel great in it every time. If you want something a little different that you will pull out time and time again, don’t skip this one.
